Basic rules of secure work with remote banking
Modern means of remote banking (RB) are gaining more popularity, thus we pay greater attention to issues of secure storage and transfer of information. However, to ensure the highest level of security of your confidential information there is a number of measures you can undertake on your own. We strongly ask you to treat the use of RB system with maximum responsibility and observe the following basic recommendations:
- When connecting the RB system, make sure that your connection with the bank server is originating in the secured mode as evidenced by the icon of the secured connection (closed lock) which is located in the bottom-right corner or in the address bar of the browser.
- When logging into the RB system, check the date of your last entrance into the system (look under the signature “Welcome to SEB Bank”). If you suspect the system breaking under your name, urgently inform this fact to the Support Service.
- When connecting the Bank server, make sure that you are connecting with the authentic site (you can read here how to do it).
- To avoid illegal infiltration to your computer via the Internet, make sure that your computer is supported with switched-on and correctly set-up firewall, and installed and constantly operating antivirus software applying the latest upgrading of antivirus bases.
- Use software (operating systems, applications) from proven sources. Refuse from installation and utilization of software if you are not sure in its security.
- Update the software, installed on your computer regularly. The majority of updates is aimed at elimination of weaknesses of software and improves the security of its utilization.
- Try to distinguish access of individual users to the operating system of the computer which is used for work with the RB system by implementation of personal accounts and passwords.
- If the employee is fired, his account shall be blocked or removed. We also strongly recommend you to change all passwords, giving access to the RB system, known to the fired employee.
- We would recommend you with the help of the technicians, serving your company, to carry out examination for outside attempts to log in your computer.
- Try not to activate the possibility of remote connection to the computer which is used for work with the RB system.
- Do not activate the function of fill-out forms in the set-up of the Internet browser. It helps not to save data (for example, the user name and password) on hard disk that, in its turn, prevents data utilization by unauthorized persons.
- Do not keep the cryptographic information, as well as password to access the RB system on the hard disk of your computer. Install mediums with keys only at the moment of direct work with the RB system. Upon completion of work session with the RB system, it is necessary to get the medium with keys out of the computer drive.
- Keep your data, used for logging into the system, secret and do not pass it to the third persons. Do not keep your password in paper form, and if it is unavoidable, then keep it in the place beyond the reach of the unauthorized persons and so that it cannot be referred to the username of the system it is used by.
- Do not transfer information on the passwords to the employees of the Bank or persons, claiming to be the Bank employees. None of the Bank employees under no circumstances has a right to ask you for the information on the data, used for logging into the system.
- Change the password to access the RB system regularly.
In case, if you have a suspicion that someone may have information on your passwords or cryptographic keys, you must urgently address the Support Service for RB System Users by telephone +7 (812) 334-0909 (ext. 5) or by e-mail: support.clb@sebbank.ru.
